It sounds boring, cuz it is boring.
Generating gcode for boring a hole might be tedious, too, but it's not, thanks
to an applet that takes care of the worst of it.
Mouse over the screenshot to see get a description of the features.
enter
the Hole Diameter here....
this is the final diameter of the hole you bore...
enter
the Hole Origin
(X & Y coordinates) ....
If
you want a separate Finish Cut, check the box and
enter the Finish Allowance here....
if you specify a finish allowance, it will apply to both diameter and depth...
enter
the ABSOLUTE Z value of the work surface here....
enter
the StepDown depth for each layer of cutting ....
enter the Hole Depth here....
this is the ultimate hole depth...
if you specified a finish allowance, it will be included on depth also...
enter
the StepOver distance here....
this is how much each cut will overlap.
this
will show you a visual plot of the circular toolpath.
this will generate the gcodes for the toolpath to bore the
hole.
the app will generate a subroutine that does the circle, and
code that calls the circle subroutine as it steps down into the work appropriately.
any specified finish cut is performed on both diameter and
depth of hole...
cutter compensation is automatic for the tool diameter specified...
this
copies everything showing in the gcode window to the clipboard...
this
closes the applet - but...
the last settings are saved and will reappear next time the applet is launched...
